Jet Engines
Fundamentals of theory, design & operation

An excellent reference book for aviation professionals and enthusiasts who wish to broaden their knowledge of jet engine technology and its associated subjects. The author provides a comprehensive explanation of the components that constitute a gas turbine aero-engine, examining both the design and function of all engine parts. The book covers turbojet, turboprop and turbofan designs in both civilian and military aircraft and provides examples of the engine-to-aircraft relationships used to follow the application of certain engine types to operational requirements. All descriptions are written in a straightforward style and the text is amplified by many diagrams, plans and cutaway illustrations.

Comment
This book lets you see how a real engine operates, not how an idealized, thermodynamically perfect, one does. It's a shame that more books on jet engine technology do not touch on the real world aspects of designing, constructing, and maintaining a turnine engine like this one does. It is a little brief, but would complement a good book on propulsion thermodynamics.
