You do not need to learn the contents of this guide, but you will find that some of the terminology and jargon will be less of a mystery when your instructor 'briefs' you for the lesson.

The purpose of this syllabus is to give guidance to students and to instructors who are invlolved in the task of training pilots. Each course is designed so that the students or the pilots under training are given the experience, the competence in flying, and the knowledge of aviation technical matters demanded by the ground and flight tests described in Joint Aviation Requirements for the inital issue of a Private Pilot Licence and associated qualifications.

The co-ordination of ground and flying training is a necessary and important part of any pilot course.
